Landscape Concept and Design Response

The overall objective for the site is to create an attractive, diverse and sensory rich external environment which can be perceived as a place with its own identity. The site will offer beautiful and functional outdoor areas that are legible in terms of distinguishing the hierarchy and character of spaces, and provide a range of meeting and gathering spaces for relaxation, study and socialising.
The Landscape narrative for the site embraces the Oxford Quad concept, and draws on the site’s history as a military barracks. The character and layout of the spaces draw on design principles for traditional walled gardens.
The external spaces comprise 5 different but connected garden spaces for gathering, relaxing, dining and staging events, these include: • The Parade • The East Quad • The West Quad • Kitchen Garden • Walled Gardens • James Wolfe Front Gardens.
